Hi Hi, I'm Siyan Chen. I was born in Swatow; a tranquil, coastal land in South China. I've lived in Beijing, then moved to Columbus, Ohio. I studied Environmental Economics at Ohio State University before venturing to New York City in hopes of pursing my career goals. I am currently living in NYC. I would describe myself as a mix of all things “anti-disciplinary”: a newspaper and digital editor, a financial reporter, a data analyst, a rock drummer, and a photographer. Taking pictures has been a part of my life since I was a teen, using my dad’s film camera, and then using phone cameras, and eventually mirrorless camera and DSLR. I strive to create photographs that not only capture a moment, but also a feeling and essence. I love walking and exploring anywhere I happen to live. Street photographs are the most exciting and fun part of my work, as I aspire to record the moment I have just explored with my eyes.
